Where Are
the Children?
¿Dónde Están Los Niños?
Every Child Deserves to Find Their Way Home.
After the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, children have been rescued, transported to hospitals and shelters, but many are separated from their families.
Reports indicate that some children have disappeared while being transferred between hospitals and facilities.
Support the call for an emergency child protection response in Venezuela.
One disaster. Thousands of families. One question.
The Questions Every Family Deserves Answered
How many have been identified?
How many remain separated from their families?
How many have been reunited?
How many remain in hospitals?
How many are in temporary shelters?
How many have entered the protection system?
A Different Kind of Emergency
This is not primarily a child abuse crisis.
This is a family separation crisis created by a natural disaster.
The majority of children are not fleeing their families.
They are trying to get back to them.
Every hour matters.
The longer a child remains separated, the greater the risk of trafficking, exploitation, abuse, violence, and trauma.
The Humanitarian Solution
National Child Protection & Family Reunification Center
A coordinated emergency center that brings together all key actors under one mission: to protect, identify and reunite every child.
The Solution
The proposed National Child Protection & Family Reunification Center expands the emergency response capacity by bringing together government institutions, humanitarian organizations, hospitals, NGOs, child protection authorities, experts and emergency responders under one coordinated operational model.
It strengthens and accelerates existing systems during the emergency to ensure every child can be identified, protected and reunited with family as safely and quickly as possible.
How It Works: Five Operational Pillars
Protect
Immediate medical care, shelter, safety and continuous supervision.
Identify
Photography, biometrics, legal registration and DNA collection when appropriate.
Locate
Family tracing through hospitals, shelters, registries and extended family networks.
Verify
Multidisciplinary assessments to ensure every reunification is safe.
Reunite
Safe reunification with parents or verified relatives as quickly as possible.
Guiding Principles
Why it matters.
Every hour can change a child's future.
